How to check vehicle maintenance, according to the ex-hung ball joint was informed that there are four methods:
A steering column and the steering column to check
(1) Check the steering column and the steering column deformation and damage.
Do not allow welding or correction, if severe deformation or damage must be replaced. Check the wear and erosion steering column bearing serious should be replaced.
(2) Check the steering shaft universal joint
Shown in Figure 1, the universal joint in hand to check the radial clearance in both directions cross shaft 1, if found to have a gap, replace gimbal bearing 3. When removing the universal joints, bearings 3 first removed, then remove the cross shaft 1 (pre-split to do with the universal joint shaft alignment mark 2 4). When assembled, should first universal joint shaft 2 and 4 are marked on the alignment, first with the cross shaft 1, and then the bearing pressure on people with vise 3.
Check (3) of the steering column support ring
Jetta steering column support ring checks. Check the wear and damage on the steering column support ring, severe should be replaced.
(4) Check the safety pegs and rubber bearing sleeve
Santana safety inspection rubber studs and bearing sleeve. Check the safety pin on the steering column is damaged, rubber bushings and polyethylene casing is damaged. Check the rubber support ring is aging, damaged. Check that the spring is damaged or elastic weakened.
2 steering checks
(1) check the mechanical steering
Check the steering rack and pinion for wear and damage, whether there are cracks on the steering gear housing, and pay attention to parts or welding is not allowed on the steering correction, only to be replaced. Also check the wear and damage to bearings and bushings, as well as seals, dust cover wear and aging, and timely replacement.
(2) Check the steering damper
Santana steering damper inspection. Shown in Figure 2, to check whether the steering damper oil spills, oil provisions as 86mL.
Check steering damper stroke. Working stroke should be the maximum length L (Lmax) 556mm and minimum length (Lmin) of 344.5mm difference is 211.5mm. Travel should be less than the replacement.
Check the steering damping force shock absorber, damping maximum load of 560N, minimum damping load is 180N (test bench).
Check steering damper support is cracking.
Check steering damper rubber bushing ends are damaged aging.
(3) Check the power steering
Check the oil spill at all, replace all O-rings and gaskets. If the hydraulic distribution valve replacement or replace the whole issue must be allocated on the valve seal ring. Check the pinion, rack damage. Check the bearings and oil seals for damage. Check the dust cover for damage and aging. Check the steering gear housing for cracks and leakage place.
3 Check the power steering pump
As shown in Figure 3, the power steering pump all the cleaning of metal components can only use alcohol. Check the flow control valve, and Figure 3 (a) Check the flow control valve to ensure it can pump casing, pump hole slide freely, if stuck, check the control valve pump casing, pump bore the existence of impurities, scratches and glitches. Only as a flow control valve assembly to maintenance, it can not be disintegrated. When the valve from entering port 1 plus hydraulic, should be able to successfully enter. When a block valve bore 2, from the valve hole 3 in the opposite direction toward the valve when the pressure (400-490kPa), the air should not flow from the valve bore 1.
Check the pressure in front and rear pressure plate surface is in good contact with the pump ring. When installing the pump to ensure its ring (stator) in parallel, check all parts for cracks and scratches, replace the damaged parts. Before the pressure plate, pressure plate and pump ring after high polished surface there is always the normal friction marks (the stator), and do not put them as a scratch.
Check the shaft bushings, bearings, replace if damaged. Figure 3 (b) of the bearing 4 is pressed from the shaft 5, and then a new bearing.
Check all the rotor blades in the rotor groove is freedom of movement, and Fig 3 (c) the rotor blades 6 and 7 backlash groove, a gap of 0.028mm, when exceeded, shall replace the blades 6.
Check the shaft splines for wear, shaft cracks and other damage, excessive wear and replace all damaged parts, replacement of a new shaft snap ring.
Check the pump housing for wear, cracks, blisters and damage the casting has listed any case, replace the pump casing.
Check the pressure hose and control valve plug, replace if damaged.
Check the cover snap ring, if damaged, replace it. If the snap ring distorted or deformed, can not be reused.
If you are not sure the snap ring is good or bad, then replace it.
Check the radial clearance of the rotor and stator, Figure 3 (d) with a feeler 7 8 Check the rotor and the stator radial clearance 9. Limit the use of 0.06mm, should be a priority over the replacement of the stator 9 (and the rotor has the same mark).
4 tie rod inspection
Whether (1) Check the tie rod bent
When necessary corrections. Check whether the adjustment bolt threads random pattern phenomenon.
(2) tie rod ball check
4, check the steering tie rod as shown in the outer ball joint (ball pin) rotational torque and power swing, with the spring balance 3 check outside power swing ball pin 2 and 1, respectively, and should be 5.9-51N 6.9-64.7N. 4 with a torque wrench to check the outer tie rod ball stud axial clearance should be 1 to 0, the rotational torque should be 0.3-4.ON · m, If you meet the requirements, you should replace the ball stud.
(3) Check the connection bracket
Santana bracket checks. Check the connection brackets, connectors and shock absorber bracket without fracture and deformation phenomena, check the steering tie rod bushing damage and aging.
